P. Černochová, K. Kaňovská, P. Krupa

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2002; 102(3): 99-106

In the submitted paper the authors describe the method of computed tomography(CT) and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) in impacted teeth. Basic CT scans provide accurate and detailed information on the morphology and position of teeth impacted in the jaw and their relationship to surrounding anatomical structures. MPR presents the images of transversesections of the jaws and dental arches at selected planes without extra scans. MPR improves the three-dimensional localization of retained teeth. MPR is so far the only reliable method for visualization of resorptions in contact areas between ectopic erupting and impacted teeth and roots of neighbouring...

S. Kaprálová, H. Adámková, M. Starosta

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2002; 102(3): 101-106

The authors compare the therapeutic effect of the subgingival curettage methodby means of indexes PBI (Mühlemann), Pl I (Silness and Löe) and assessment of the depth of pockets in mm. They had a group of 10 patients in good general health, mean age 43.2 years and treated 20 jaws with advanced periodontitis. According to their results assembled so far the effectiveness of the Vector method is comparable with the method of subgingival curettage. Positive is also the experience reported by patients during treatment with the Vector methodwhich does not require local anaesthesia.

Bone defects of the alveolar process are most frequently induced by progressing atrophy after the teeth lost. Pathological bone processes, tumors and traumatogenic bone lost, also cause them. Classification of the bone defect extent predetermines choice possibilities of treatment methods. Traditionally, either auto transplantation of bone grafts or augmentation with nonresorbable materials gives the most successful results. Results achieved with distraction of bone segments are most promising, especially if dental implants are inserted subsequently. Both guided tissue regeneration and bone cements no more than complete these above methods appropriately....
