The Screening study of the school children oral hygiene level and the questionnaire study are part of a complex study. The aim of this study was to map out the situation on the field of children's and youth oral health care, with a special contrast on prevention. The study was carried out in the years 1998 and 1999. Both parts of the study were incorporatedinto health education hours. Private dentists, so called "school dentists" provide basic dental care for Basic school children. The dmf and (DMF) values for deciduous and permanent teeth weren't higher than the values found out in the monitoring of the year 1994 and 1997 respectively. From the questionnaire survey we found out that, in some oral hygiene aspects, Basic school children are better informed than High school students. Furthermore we found out that girls have better approach towards their oral hygiene than boys.
