- I. stomatologická klinika LF UPJŠ a FNsP Košice, Slovenská republika, prednosta doc. MUDr. D. Beluš, CSc.
The authors analyzed a group of 232 patients, to whom a relaxation therapy of temporo-mandibular joint and adjacent structures with a resin bite splint had been indicated. The authors prefer mandibular bite splint raising the bite by 4 to 6 mm or more. The results confirmed the positive influence of such a therapy on temporo-mandibular arthropaties. A pronounced improvement was observed in 96 patients (41.4%), a slight improvement in 120 patients (51.7%). No improvement was observed in 15 patients (6.5%), and only in one case(0.4%) a clinical aggravation was observed. It is suggested to combine a bite splint therapy with a physical and pharmacological therapy.
