Correct Bite System according to Schreinemaker
K. Tatarková, M. Bernardová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 135-142
The authors discuss the prosthetic treatment of defective dentition with so-called traumatic occlusion in a 49-year-old patient. By means of the Correct Bite System of diagnostic corrective and mounting plates according to Schreinemaker reconstruction of the occlusion plane was made. The prosthetic sanation of the teeth was made first in the upper jaw by provisional bridges, modelled in such a way that the tubercles touched the edges of the mounting plate. Then provisional bridges were made in the lower jaw and articulated against the upper provisional prostheses. After an adaptation period the latter were replaced by fixed bridges. The authors discuss...
Dyract and Compoglass Compomeres in Clinical Practice
M. Starosta, J. Stejskalová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 143-150
The authors evaluate from the clinical aspect the success of compomeres Dyract and Compoglass in vivo. According to clinical results the materials are after 2 years fully comparable.
The Occurrence of the Metal Pigmentation in Oral Cavity
Z. Venclíková, L. Mrklas
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 151-154
The aim of this study was the observation of the gingival metal pigmentations developed after application of metal prosthetic restorations made of the alloys usually used in the Czech republic. By 23 patients (11 male and 12 female) the occurrence of the gingival metal pigmentations and the type of the dental metal alloys were examined. It was found that gingival pigmentations developed most frequently by the teeth without pulp which were treated with conservative and prosthetic methods. Number of the gingival pigmentations positively correlated with the number of the dental metal alloys used for prosthetic restorations. For this reasons is necessary...

Non-contact Er:YAG Laser Ablation - Clinical Evaluation
T. Dostálová, H. Jelínková, H. Kučerová, O. Krejsa, K. Hamal, J. Kubelka, S. Procházka
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 177-187
Aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of laser ablation in comparison with the classical drilling system. For the experiment the Er:YAG laser drilling machine was used. The system had a laser head, water cooler, and power supply with automatic control. Shape of cavity in comparison with classical drill, time of preparation and influence of cavity shape on filling materials retention were criteria for evaluation of non-contact Er:YAG ablation. The shape of cavity was irregular, the surface had a microretentive appearance. It was possible to remove enamel, dentin and the old adequate fillings, except for amalgam or metal alloys. Cavo surface...
Use of (Cine-) Pseudodynamic Magnetic Resonance in the Diagnosis of Internal Disorders of the Mandibular Joint
J. Krug, M. Mechl, Z. Jirousek
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 188-194
The most frequent intracapsular disorders of the TM joint are disorders of the complex of the articular head and disc, i.e. a discopathy of the mandibular joint. To expressintracapsular problems more accurately and to select correctly the therapeutic procedure it isimportant to visualize reliably the articular disc. To this end various imaging methods were introduced or modified (arthrography, computed tomography). Imaging by magnetic resonance is better than other imaging methods in many parameters. During the period from 1994-1997 the authors examined by magnetic resonance 30 mandibular joints. The joints were examinedby T1 and T2 with weighted SE...
Iatrogenic Load of Mother's Organism by Mercury Related to Dental Treatment. II. Mercury Concentrations in Breast Milk in Lactating Mothers without Amalgam Fillings in their Mouths
Z. Broukal, J. Dušková, V. Korunová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 195-199
A group of 20 lactating mothers ageing on the average 28.6 years without amalgam fillings of metall alloy prosthetic appliances in their mouths participated in this study. All individuals were dentally examined, interviewed for possible occupational or food exposure to mercury and samples of blood, urine, colostrum and breast milk were taken for mercury analyses. These were performed by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrophotometry with the detection limit0.10 ng Hg/g. Mercury levels in sera and urine amounted to 0.188 and 0.213 ng Hg/g (non-significant difference). Colostral and breast milk levels of mercury amounted to 0.321 and 0.412 ng Hg/g (non-significant...
Possibilitiesof Metal Intolerance Detection in Dental Materials
J. Procházková, J. Bártová, I. Šterzl, H. Kučerová, V. Stejskal
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 200-207
Altered metal tolerance in some patients develops in to hypersensitivity causing not onlya local but a general reaction in the organism. This pathological condition is very hard todiagnose. Epicutaneous tests are not convincing, but they are the only official tests for metalintolerance. Memory lymphocyte immunostimulation assay test (Melisa™) - modified test of blastic transformation for metal antigens in ion configuration which enables monitoring of the altered immune reaction on given materials - is a precise and reliable tool of diagnosis. Another alternative is electroacupuncture according to Voll - a very sensitive method. The results of...
The Survival Period of the Patients with Malignant Tumours of the Orofacial Region in the Kolín District
Z. Jebavý
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 208-211
From 173 malignant tumours of the orofacial region dispenzarized in the Kolín district in 1963 - 1998 years where dead in total 155 patients to the end 1998, i.e. 89.6 % (from this number 62 - 35.8 % - had malignant tumours, and 93 - 53. 8 % - other diseases). To thistime is surviving 18 patients, i.e. 10.4 %. Patients are dead in the mean age 72,8 years, the oldest dead female was 94 years old. The mean survival period was 8,2 years, from this numberin those who died from cancer reason 4.4 years. The results are summarized in two tables.
Orthodontic-prosthetic Rehabilitation after Loss of the Upper Central Incisors - Case-record
M. Roušalová, J. Dolejší, T. Dostálová, J. Racek
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(5): 212-217
In the submitted case-history the authors present the favourable results of combined orthodontic-prosthetic treatment of a patient who for orthodontic reasons had at the age of 9 years the upper central incisors extracted in another department. Orthodontic treatment was discontinued because of poor cooperation of the patient. The inadequate state was corrected in our departments by orthodontic pretreatment and prosthetic rehabilitation with good functional and cosmetic results.
