Analysis of Local Factors Predisposing to Disorders in Dentition of Upper Permanent Canine Tooth
P. Černochová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 101-106
Objective: The aim of the present study was to analyze incidence of individual local factors participating in etiology of disorders in dentition of upper permanent canine tooth. Material and Methods: The examined cohort consisted of 190 patients (114 women and 76 men) with disorders in dentition of upper permanent canine tooth. The mean age of women was 17.9 years and that in men was 17.4 years. In these patients we analyzed a total of 240 (140 - unilaterally and 50 - bilaterally) retained or ectopic dentition took place. Individual factors were evaluated in orthopantomograms and CI findings which were available in all patients. Results:...
Stress as Etiological Factor in Diseases of Mandibular Joint
V. Machoň, J. Paska
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 107-109
The authors investigated the influence of stress in intraarticular lesions of mandibular joint (discopathy, arthritis, arthrosis). In the group of 100 patients, a higher stress load was diagnosed in 40% of patients while 32.5% of patients suffered from discopathy and 45% patients from arthritis and osteoporosis. As far as the role of occupation in discopathy, the most frequently affected patients were those working in services (shop assistants, hairdressers) in 30% and retired individuals in 26.6%.Stress belongs to very frequent etiological factors and an indispensable part in the therapy of mandibular joint diseases is therefore psychotherapeutic...
Cytotoxicity of Dental Alloys
L. Vavřičková, T. Dostálová, D. Vahalová, J. ©rámková, J. Ulrichová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 138-143
The paper presented cytotoxicity testing procedure in vitro of chosen nickel - chromium dental alloys - Remanium G soft, Wiron 99, Wirolloy a Heraenium NA. Direct contact test and extract test were used. A population of mouse desmocytes NIH 3T3 was used for both tests. Results show the all tested dental alloys can be considered noncytotoxic, with only small variation in extract test presented.
Experience with Application of Bone Autologous Grafts for Augmenting Alveolus in Dental Implantology
V. Zbořil, J. Pazdera
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 144-148
The authors refer to their experience with application of autologous bone graft taken from the area of mandibular symphysis for restitution of atrophy or defect of alveolar process. There was a reconstruction of the bone size in horizontal direction. Twenty weeks after the augmentation dental implants were introduced into the toothless section and within the time lapse of another 24 week interval the implants were weighted down with fixed prosthetic work. This kind of method was used in a group of 23 patients treated and followed in the years 2003 to 2006 at the Clinic of Oral, Jaw and Face Surgery, Faculty Hospital in Olomouc. The method proved to...
Use of Buccal Fat Pad
O. Bulik, M. Machálka
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 149-152
Occurrence of the oroantral communication after tooth extraction is a rather frequent complication. Both oro-antral communication (OAC) and oronasal communication (ONC) of major extent occur in connection with the surgical treatment of tumors in the region of maxilla. Closure of the above communications by means of buccal fat pad is rather simple and reliable method, which does not strain the patient. Not only lesser communications but also major defects after the resection of the alveolar process of maxilla can be closed with a buccal fat pad. Both procedure of the communication closure by means of buccal fat pad and comparison with other methods...
Effectiveness of Hygienic Phase at Different Types of Patients in Relation to Oral Hygiene State Evaluated Using CPINT Index
E. Kovalová, A. Kovaµ, I. Minčík, J. Jenčová, I. Dřízhal
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 153-160
The authors on a series of 256 patients aged 18-60 years followed up the effectiveness of a complete hygienic phase and recall on the development and extent of periondotitis, using CPITN index.CPITN index was found decreased between the first and control visit. Between the control and recall the increase CPITN index was observed. Introduction of the hygienic phase in oral hygiene had a significant with its impact on the sanitary condition of periodont. Therefore, the authors recommend the hygienic phase as an integral part of the treatment plan in each and every patient.
Crowding of Teeth in Lower Jaw from a Prehistoric Locality Roonka in South Australia
M. Prokopec
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 161-164
When analyzing human remains from Roonka the author was struck by the frequent incidence of crowded teeth in the mandibles (round 25 per cent). This contradicts statements in the literature according to which hunters and gatherers have lower incidence of tooth crowding in comparison with nomads and agriculturists. He finds the explanation in stress due to chewing tough food from early age. The advancing Europeization will probably lead to the diminishing of this stress but also to the diminishing of the lower jaw. According to the theory that the lower jaw diminished independently of size of the teeth and faster than the teeth, an increase of this...
Attrition, Abrasion, Corrosion and Abfraction New Overview of Superficial Teeth Lesions
M. Vambera, E. Gojiąová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2007; 107(6): 165-168
The authors present actualized and revised nomenclature and classification for surface teeth lesions. Their objective is the standardization, clarity and aplicability for stomatologists.. The paper describes pathodynamic mechanism in originating surface lesions of teeth. Understanding the pathodynamic mechanism of the origin lesions or their combinations make it possible for the dentist to establish a precise diagnosis and to provide adequate suitable therapy.
