WHO requires data from member states about the most common oral health problems - dental caries and periodontal diseases. Data are choosen from epidemiological studies in several age groups. Each age group has its own criteria, the first were established by the year 2000, later changed apply to the years 2010 and 2020. Slovak republic is also sending data to WHO, but only a few and not in the age group of 5-6 year old children. For that we performed a study in Košice and surrounding villages. We focused on dmft index and separately on its components d,m,f. % of caries - free children and plaque on the teeth surfaces. The dmft index for the whole group was 5.45. Component d was the most common, the ratio of dentine dental caries in comparing with other carious lesions was on the maximum level of the statistical significance. Nearly 30% of children are caries-free and also in 30% of cases there was found plaque on the teeth surfaces.
