The Occurrence of the Metal Pigmentation in Oral Cavity
- Výzkumný ústav stomatologický, Praha, ředitel doc. MUDr. O. Krejsa, CSc.
The aim of this study was the observation of the gingival metal pigmentations developed after application of metal prosthetic restorations made of the alloys usually used in the Czech republic. By 23 patients (11 male and 12 female) the occurrence of the gingival metal pigmentations and the type of the dental metal alloys were examined. It was found that gingival pigmentations developed most frequently by the teeth without pulp which were treated with conservative and prosthetic methods. Number of the gingival pigmentations positively correlated with the number of the dental metal alloys used for prosthetic restorations. For this reasons is necessary to be carefully with the choice of dental metal alloys. Carbon posts and "metalfree" materials can be considered as perspective materials for prosthetic restorations.
