Factors Influencing the Occurrence of Lower Lip Carcinoma

The spinocellular carcinoma has been established as the most frequent malignant neoplasm of the lower lip. 142 patients were treated and followed at the II nd Department of Stomatology in Brno from 1984 to 1993 years. The maximum occurrence of this type of neoplasm was recorded in the patients of age over 70. Men were affected 3,5 times morefrequently than women. Cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption did not increased the risk of neoplasm occurrence. Pipe smoking or smoking of the cigars was not recorded in any patient. In the conclusion, these factors probably do not contribute significantly to manifestation of the disease.
