Cervicofacial Actinomycosis

The authors describe their experience with the diagnosis and treatment of cervicofacial actinomycosis. They diagnosed the condition in a total of 12 patients, 11 men and one woman. In two patients the disease was manifested by a tumour of the lower lip, in onepatient the infection was in the maxillary sinus and in nine patients there was an inflammationin the area of the mandibular angle. The most frequently applied treatment was parenteral administration of large doses of penicillin. In all instances treatment was successful and there were no relapses of the disease.
