- I. stomatologická klinika LF UP a FN, Olomouc, přednostka kliniky doc. MUDr. J. Stejskalová, CSc.
The extension of human age calls for orientation on the needs of dental care of the elderly and old population. This age group has its specific problems as regards oral health. Their knowledge is very important for the formulation of the concept of prevention and therapy in old age. One of the basic prerequisites for solving this problem is knowledge of the epidemiological situation of oral health of elderly subjects in a given area. The author analyzes the state of dentition in a group of clinical patients above 60 years of age in particular with regard to the number of preserved own teeth, the DMF value, hygiene of the oral cavity and state of the periodontium as well as the standard of prosthetic treatment.
