- Stomatologická klinika 1. LF UK a VFN, Praha, přednosta prof. MUDr. J. Mazánek, DrSc.
Bone augmentation may be sometimes required prior to fixture placement in implant therapy. Bone autograft, allograft or xenograft can be used for augmentation as well as its bone substitute. Many authors recommend to admix platelet-rich plasma (PRP) prepared from various amount of whole patient's blood by centrifugation. As a main reason growth factors stimulating bone regeneration are mentioned which are released from considerable amount of platelets included in PRP. In this review publications were divided into three groups whether authors have evaluated PRP positively or have used PRP without evaluation or have not found benefit.
