A Review on the Characteristics and Indications of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) for its Use in Endodontics

Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) was introduced into dentistry as a root-end filling material. Several researches and investigations were done on its properties and uses. In this review, the composition, properties and indications of MTA are mentioned, along with the techniques for its use in various clinical situations like pulp capping, internal and external root resorptions, lateral and strip perforations, furcal perforation, apexification, root-end filling and root-canal filling. A case report of repairing furcal perforation using MTA is also documented.
