Effect of Dietary Habits on Early Childhood Caries Development

The authors studied dietary habits of children affected by early childhood caries using a questionnaire. The common feature in the diet of all ECC-affected children was frequent day and night intake of sugar-sweetened drinks with longlasting exposition. Sucking on the baby-bottle persisted even in 2-3 year old children. Most mothers knew about the role of sugarsin tooth decay. Prevention of early childhood caries stressing the dietary habits controle is suggested.

In the submitted paper the authors mention the indications, therapeutic procedures and practical findings concerning repair of dentoalveolar and skeletal malocclusions bymeans of a facial mask. The work is based on the authors theoretical study published in the journal Česká stomatologie (Czech Stomatology) in 1998. The transfer of orthopaedic force by dorsoventral traction to the maxillary complex stimulates the growth potential of the maxilla and influences its growth in a sagittal and vertical direction. Oral Health of Patients with Hemato-oncology Diseases

Oral Hygiene Induced Lesions of Dental Hard Tissues in the Time-span between 16th and 19th Centuries

Within the framework of anthropological and medical research of skeletalremains of the Sweerts-Sporck noble family, preserved dentitions of five individuals were examined. A detailed investigation of the teeth revealed the lesions of dental hard tissues atfour individuals. Dish-shaped lesions profiles were observed at three individuals that have livedin the time-span between 16 th and 18 th centuries. In the fourth individual, who had lived in 19th century, only wedge-shaped lesions profile was found. Based on macro- and microscopic features of lesions, we suppose that they were formed due to practiced oral hygiene. There is no evidence of lesions...

The authors analyze the problem of dental treatment of patients, in particular those with liver disease. They draw attention to the main risks, changes in the oral cavity and entire orofacial area. They also mention possible contraindications of drugs and some modifications of common dental treatment.

Therapeutic Procedures in Leukoplakia Oris

The authors describe available knowledge reported in the literature on the treatment of leukoplakia oris. Conservative methods are used. They discuss the effect of beta-carotene, retinol and retinoids. As to vitamins, they mention experience assembled with vitamin C, alpha-tocopherol and with a combination of antioxidants.

Postirradiational Changes of the Dental Tissues Development

The communication gives an account of postirradiational changes of the dentaltissues development, diagnosed in a ten years old patient. The girl was operated for a malignantbone lymphom at the age of two years. She was treated by radiotherapy besides the surgicalintervention and chemotherapy.
