Anomalies of the Shape, Position and Number of Teeth in a Child

The author describes a combined anomaly of shape, number and position of teethin a 10-year-old girl. The anomaly of tooth 11 was the cause of an inflammatory complication and diagnostic doubts of the attending physician.

Dental Surgery of Medical Compromised Patients with Nd:YAG, CO2 and Er:YAG Lasers

Authors evaluated indications and applications of Nd:YAG, CO2 and Er:YAG lasers in treatment of medical compromised patients after transplantations, with anticoagulative and immunosuppressive medication. Authors managed periodontal, dentoalveolar and oncological surgical procedures. These conclusions are based on this experience: a) We can treatmany different patients with conventional surgical contraindications with Nd:YAG laser safely without additional medication; b) Er:YAG and CO2 lasers are for medical compromised patients minimal effective compare to Nd:YAG laser without real competition.

Leucite Glass-ceramics in Dentistry

Regeneration of Parodontal Tissue Using Perio-System Combi-Pack

Guided tissue regeneration is based on the biological concept that states the ability of recolonization of root surface by the cells of remaining parodontium and restoration of parodontal structures if parodontal cells (desmodonts) are preferred during healing period of parodontal lesion. The effect is achieved by the insertion of physical barrier (membrane) below mukoperiostal flap and above treated parodontal defect and tooth root. In the paperpresented, the application of newly-combined biomaterials (distributed as Perio-System Combi-Pack) is described. Lingual Goitre

The authors describe a rare anomaly of developmental heterotopia of thyroidtissue in a female patient. The anomaly was clinically manifested only at the age of 39 years by deglutition difficulties and the sensation of a foreign body in the throat. For diagnosis inaddition to classical examination ultrasonography of the neck was used, scintigraphic examination and computer tomography. Treatment involved complete removal of the accessorythyroid gland. In the conclusion the authors mention other rare localizations of an accessory thyroid gland.

Tissue Necrosis after Tooth Reconstruction - Complication of Intraligamentous Anaesthesia

Caries Experience in Children Aged 2-3 Years and Preventive Behaviour of Their Parents

A cross sectional study was conducted in children aged 2-3 years and of the preventive background of their home care in the City of Prague in 1997-1998. The mean count of dmf teeth amounted to 0.34 and this value did not differ significantly from the data of 1991. In two thirds of children toothbrushing with fluoride toothpastes began in two years of a ge, onethird was given tablets, mostly since the 6th month or one year of age. Two thirds of children were seen first by dentist at the age of 2-3. The most of families prefer bottled waters for the preparation of child's food and drinks, one third of them prefer Good water.
