Endodontic Treatment with Application Er:YAG Laser Radiation Desinfection

Conventional endodontic treatment is not fully effective due to the microbialcolonization of root canal walls dentin. Application of Er:YAG laser radiation thought movablewaveguide helps to receive antibacterial effect not only in root canal walls but also insurrounding tissues. Energy 100 mJ, 30 pulses, repetition rate 4 Hz is the optimal dose for restdisinfection effect.
Effect of Elongated Cervical Collar on a Marginal Bone Level of Osseointegrated Dental Implants (a Clinical Study of System Impladent)

The aim of the clinical study is evaluation of the effect of the machined (smooth) cervical collar on marginal bone level. Authors placed 69 modified fixtures Impladent. These implants differed from the standard fixtures by their geometry, surface, and type of cervical collar. Marginal bone level was measured both after the healing period and after one year of functional loading of implants. The marginal bone lost was always more accentuated in the implants with elongated smooth cervical collar. Our Experience with the Use of Tranexamic Acid during Surgical Treatment of Patients with Anticoagulant Therapy

The authors submit preliminary results of their investigation of the possible use of trenexamic acid in the prevention of postextraction haemorrhage in patients taking oral anticoagulants without previous reduction of this treatment. The method seems to be a relatively safe, simple and cheap alternative at a level of anticoagulant treatment up to 3.0 NTP totreatment of the wound by tissue glues.

With the objective to contribute to the problem of etiology of diseases with recurrent oral ulcers the authors made an immunological examination of 10 patients with the diagnosis of stomatitis aphthosa minor which was supplemented by examination of galvanic phenomena in the oral cavity. The authors assessed serum IgA levels, levels of secretory IgAin saliva, levels of complement serum components and the formation of IFN-g and IL-4 insupernatants of lymphocyte tissue cultures. Professor Jan Jesenský is considered the founder of Czech modern stomatology. His daughter Milena, a journalist, known in the literary world as a friend and addressee of the published collection of Franz Kafka's letters presented in her essay a testimony of his personal courage. Leukocytic Elastase and its Inhibition in Some Tissues of the Oral Cavity

The authors assessed in tissues taken from the oral cavity the activity of leukocytic elastase (LE) using an original substrate (Suc-Ala-Ala-Pro-Ala-MCU). Tissue specimens with a measurable LE activity were incubated with the inhibitor of Suc-Lys(Lau-Ala)-Ala-Ala-Pro-NHiBu which has a significant inhibitory activity in tissues with different grades of inflammation.

The questionnaire survey was a part of grant 4089 "Analysis of Oral Health in5 and 12 year old children in Prague and Birmingham". The aim of this study was to obtain information about attitudes and dental knowledge among parents, children and their school-teachers to oral health. Dates on oral health behaviour were collected by questioners designedby the WHO which were delivered to mothers of 5-year-old children attending kindergardes. The number of mothers who replied was 224 out 294 (85 %).
