Reasons for Hospitalization of Senior Citizens at the Second Stomatological Clinic in Prague in 1992-1996
J. Kouřilová, L. Mrklas
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 181-185
In the submitted study the authors evaluated the reasons for hositalization of seniors at the Second Stomatological Clinic in Prague in 1992-1996 and compared results assembled in the group of men and women. All data were obtained from tase records of individual patients. The data were divided finto three parts: information of a general character, general health status of the patient and dental disease and its treatment.
Artglass-Siloc Facetting System
P. Pírek, M. Bernardová, M. Eber
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 187-196
The authors submit their own clinical experience with 103 overall facetted links of 38 dentures in a group of 26 patients treated using the Artglas-Siloc (Heraeus-Kulzer) facetting system. The overall facetted crowns and bridges were made and followed up in 1997 to 2000. In the described group of patients 70 facets were made on a skeleton of silver-palladium alloy Palliag M2 (~gussa), 23 facets in combination with gold-palladium alloy Aurix L (Safina) and 10 facets on a skeleton of cobalt chromium alloy BNF 2000 (Elephant). The investigation was focused above all on impaired retention and changes of the facet surface. During the follow up period 17...
The Possibility of Dentition Exchange Guidance. Review of Contemporary Knowledge and own Experience
E. Rozkovcová, M. Marková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 193-195
Physiological dentition exchange is often interfered with exogenous and endogenous factors. For this reason it must be steadily regulated. The authors present complex view on this topit based on literatury studies and own experience. The authors define fundamental principles "guided exchange", "tooth eruption" and "eruption path". Correct explication of these ideas is necessary for text understanding. Dentition exchange is considered as complex of eruption interactions of individual permanent teeth including molars. The project is based on idea that dentition exchange time is optimal for preventive interventions. At the end the authors underline the...
Cephalometric Superimposition of X-rays with Longer Time-interval
P. Vika, M. Kamínek
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 196-200
The changes in the SN line inclination during the growth esere studied in relation to time of observation. The superimposition of two age-different cephalometric headfilms on stable strnctures of the cranial base was performed. The extent of changes according the period of observation was investigated. The mean rotation of SN line 0.45° was in the group of patients with the period of observation less than 2 years, whereas in the group of patients with the period of observation more than 2 years the mean rotation of SN line was 1.60°. In the course of the facial growth, the ventrocaudal shift of the N point, even remodeling of sella turcica and dorsocranial...
Analysis of the Cariosity in 12-year-old Children. Epidemiological Investigation
N. Markovská, Š. Vojakovičová, M. Tamášová, B. Čičelová, N. Bachárová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 197-202
In 1997-1999 the authors performed a epidemiological survey of 12-year-old children in some districts of the Slovak Republic. All information was collected using standardized methods recommended by WHO. For determination of the caries incidence they used DMFT index. In addition they analysed DMFT in different districts of the Slovak Republic. The lowest DMFT score was found in the city Košice (DMFT = 3,13) and the best dental health care of schoolchildren was in the town Dolný Kubín (RI = 0,9).
Cyst of the Nasopalatine Duct
P. Křížek
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 201-204
The author presents the tase-history of an adult female patient who shortly before admission to the Stomatological Clinic observed a change of the position of tooth 11 and shortly afterwards a relatively extensive bulging of the palate behind the upper middle incisors developed. The patient saw her dental practitioner who referred her to our Clinic with the diagnosis of a maxillar cyst. Based on clinical and X-ray examination the diagnosis of a cyst of the nasopalatine duct was established. Surgery was performed under general anaesthesia, teeth 11 and 21 esere fixed by a resin splint. Histologic examination confirmed the diagnosis. Healing proceeded...
Thermafil Obturators: Clinical Evaluation of the Technique. A Review
A. Kaštáková, Z. Halačková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 203-211
Cold lateral compaction of gutta-percha is both experimentally and clinically proven method of root canal obturation. Main disadvantages of this technique (time-consuming, difficult in curved canals, risk of vertical root fracture) are supposed to be overcome by warm gutta-percha techniques. One of them, Thermafil, has been introduced by Johnson (1978). Its original version was largely improved during past 20 years; nowadays Thermafil belongs to a very popular method in the USA. Two years ago, this technique was introduced to Czech dental market, too. However, for many dentists stays Thermafil still a doubtful novelty. Therefore, the aim of this study...
Apical Leakage of Thermafil and Lateral Compaction. Part III: Sealer Apexit. The Importance of Sealer Application
A. Kaštáková, Z. Halačková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(6): 205-211
The function of a sealer is to improve the seal between guttapercha and dentinal wall. In warm techniques, it should compensate for the shrinkage of guttapercha. The aim of this study was: (1.) to compare the importance of sealer application in both lateral compaction and Thermafil and (2.) to compare the tightness of apical seal, performed by sealer Apexit in both techniques. The extracted teeth were instrumented by K-files and a step back technique, up to ISO 40 master apical file. Teeth were obturated and immersed in 1 % methylene blue for one week. The results in groups without sealer revealed significantly higher (p < 0.001) penetration than...
