M. Starosta, H. Adámková, S. Kaprálová, R. Novotný

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 139-146

In our study we have used bio-ceramic materials BAS-R and BAS-HA intreatment of intraosseous periodontal defects. In both materials, the effectiveness of sucha therapy is comparable. Clinically, we have noted periodontal pocket depth reduction of approximately 2 millimetres. We have not proved this periodontal regeneration histologically.

Central Giant Cell Granuloma

P. Krejčí

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 147-153

Central giant cell granuloma is a benign intraosseous lesion of the jaws occurring mostly in persons under the age of 30. Females comprise 65 % of all the cases. Mandible isaffected 2 to 3 times more often than maxilla. The aetiology of this disease remains unclear, but the occurrence of central giant cell granuloma has been repeatedly described in connection with a primary tooth injury. That was also the case of our patient. At the age of three, he suffered aninjury of the tooth No. 51, but he visited our dental office four years later at the age of sevendue to an impacted tooth No. 11, which was dislocated high into the vestibule. S. Ságlová, P. Bednář, D. Černý

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 154-163

Authors searched into 316 18-years old students with aim to detect primaryapproximal caries on molars and premolars using radiographic examination. They examinedeveryone, after their filling the preliminary questionnaire, by a clinical examination of teeth and periodontal tissue, made two radiographs (bitewing) and performed their reading. Totalnumber of approximal surfaces on bitewings was 9782, from these 2611 (26.7%) surfaces were not possible to read, 407 (4.2%) were treated by a filling. Remaining 6764 (69.1%) untreated surfaces were evaluated by caries depth throw enamel and dentin using the grading frommethods. 62% of approximal surfaces were...

J. Charvát, T. Dostálová, H. Hubálková, H. Kučerová, J. Stebel, R. Hippmann

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 167-175

The aim of the study was to evaluate the quality of metal-ceramic reconstruction fabricated from common metal alloy and ceramic material. In our Republic, this type of treatment is commonly used in everyday clinical practice. We have evaluated 52 crowns placed in 19 patients (14 women, 5 men). The crowns were fabricated from ceramic material Vita and chromium-cobalt-nickel alloy. During clinical examination we have concentrated on the following items: Crown margin placement - parallel with marginal gingiva (34.6%), or placed above marginal gingiva (65.4%). As for the crown margin placement, no difference between the vestibular (34.6% and 65.4% respectively)...

Our Experience with Implantation Following Immediately after Extraction

Z. Nathanský

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 176-182

The author deals with the possibility of placing an endosseous implant immediatelyafter the tooth extraction. He emphasizes very satisfactory therapeutical results of thistype of treatment. High success rate of this method, shortening of the treatment time and verygood aesthetical results are strong arguments for putting this method into practice. The paperis part of the research project IGA NK 6065-3/2000.

P. Stanko, I. Satko, J. ©vidraň, J. Kubisová, J. Danko, M. Gharaibeh, D. Novotňáková

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 183-189

Authors analysed retrospectively ocurrence of malignant lymphomas in materials of the 2nd Stomatological Clinic in Bratislava during years 1985-2000 with special view on the diagnosis. They found 23 cases of malignant lymphomas (7 men, 16 women) together, from these Hodgkin's lymphogranuloma in 7 cases (3 men, 4 women) and non-Hodgkin malignant lymphoma in 16 cases (4 men ,12 women). Rutinely were performed evaluations: ultrasound, native X-rays (in salivary gland sialography, too), laboratory investigations (heamatology, serology as in the node syndrome and the oncomarcers - carcinoembryonic antigena β-2 microglobulin). In larger tumours was...

Fractures of the Mandible Caused by Brachial Force

V. Machoň

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 190-194

Brachial force is one of the most frequent aetiologies of fractures of the mandible. The mandibular angel is the most affected region. Patients at the age of twenty to forty years create the characteristic group. Microdontic Incisor - Non Typical Prosthetic Use

T. Strnadel

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 195-199

The microdontic upper lateral incisor with hypoplastic crown was used during the prosthetic treatment of the patient with unilateral complete cleft. Low, so called biologic factor of this tooth, didn't allow to use it as a classic fixed bridge abutment. It was untraditional used during the treatment of the large dental defect with the aim to decrease fixed bridge metal construction springing in the pontic area.

Ageing Process of Hard Dental Tissues and Dental Pulp - a Synopsis

J. Kouřilová

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2003; 103(5): 200-206

Ageing is an irreversible process that is by nature a part of an individual's ontogenesis. It is characterized by morphological and functional changes. In general, a change of a structure results in a change of a function. Life consists of separate developmental stages, each of them having its distinctive structural and functional changes. This applies for oral cavity too. Teeth are often the last remains of a human body that can endure for ages and render use ful information about human beings, since they differ from most of body tissues in their limited regeneration potential. There are only few exceptions, namely some animal species that have preserved...
