J. Badalová, Z. Bezrouková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(2): 33-37
The paper summarizes a 2.5-year experience in prevention and therapy of radiation caries. The project was focused on the examination, sanation of the teeth and the elaboration of a preventive oral-hygienic program consisting of the care of the patient before, in the course and after the end of a complex antitumor therapy. The cohort included 42 patients, 29 men and 13 women with a newly detected malignity of the orofacial region. The goal of periodontal therapy is the protection and maintance of patient's natural dentition over his or her lifetime for optimalaesthetic appearance and function. The aim of periodontal surgical procedures is the regeneration of these tissues and development of functional periodontal unit. Among the latest advances in dentistry is the application of Platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Platelets play an important role in wound healing. They provide initial hemostasis and release mediators to help modulate the inflammatory response and many of the cellular functions involved in wound healing. Contained in the alpha granules of platelets are multiple growth...
A Study Evaluating Hermetic Character of the Root Filling Seal
Z. Diviš, Z. Halačková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(2): 38-40
Succesful root canal therapy reguires a complete obturation of the root canal system. The majority of endodontic failures have been caused by the incomplete sealing of the root canal. Therefore, we have to find an ideal technique and material. For the evaluation of microleakage we can use several methods. The most popular are fluid transport studies and penetration studies. The aim of this summary was to compare both kinds of this methods.
A Clinical Study Evaluating Posttraumatic Consequences in Permanent Teeth
H. Hecová, V. Merglová, J. Stehlíková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(2): 43-48

Our Experience with Arthroscopy of Temporomandibular Joint
Š. Nátek, Z. Jirousek
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(2): 49-55
Arthroscopy of temporomandibular joint may be considered as a surgical, minimally invasive diagnostic-therapeutic method, which successfully bridges the gap between the conservative therapy of TMP and a surgical intervention on the open joint. It enables a direct visual evaluation of intraarticular structures of upper articular fissure, position of the disk, and its movements in the liquid medium with possibility of therapeutic intervention. It may be considered as a method of choice in cases, where despite a correct establishment of secondary diagnosis and intensive conservative therapy, there is a further progression of pathological changes and continuing...

D. Kopecká, A. Šimůnek, T. Brázda, R. V. Somanathan
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(2): 56-58
Necessity of the sinus lift procedure in individual locations on the lateral aspect of the maxilla was investigated. The vertical extent of the bone in a position of missed canine, both premolars and first and second molars was measured. The minimum required bone measurement was related to two limit values 12 and 10 mm respectively and all the values obtained were compared with the relevant one. It was found that adequate amount of bone was almost always present in the canine region. In the position of the first premolar, a sinus lift was required in a half and one quarter of the patients, respectively. Three quarters and a half of the patiens, respectively,...
