3D scanner KaVo PREPassistant is used in dentist's education and research.The aim of presented study was to create a prototypal prosthodontic aboutment for comparison with students' preparations. A laboratory parallelometer was used for preparation and a methylmetacrylic pattern was created to fix the artificial tooth to this device. The result is a pillar with an slope of 6° and with a rounded stair.

M. Fraenkel and I. Raschkow - the students of J. E. Purkyne in Wroclaw

In the doctoral Husis of Fraenkel and Raschkow, the students of Purkyne in Wroclaw, there are detailed descriptions of the microstructure of dental tissues and their histiogenesis. Purkyne proposed the subject for the dissertations and also participated with the students in making certain observations himself and also providing illustrations. Purkyne was a scientist whose creative thinking offered a surplus of ideas which he gladly shared with his students to trigger the research they finally executed.

Ectodermal dysplasia is a disease of strong familial disposition. There is a broad scale of subtypes with more or less expressed signs. The diagnostics is of high significance as well as the associated missing teeth. The shortage in dentition becomes apparent already in the primary teeth. The technique of lateral cephalometric radiography has become widely used as a descriptive, analytical, and diagnostic tool in clinical orthodontics and prosthodontics. The study demonstrates the possibility of using laser radiation for ceramic bracket removing. Three laser radiations were examined for this effect, and the removing possibility and velocity together with enamel and pulp damage were investigated. The lasers used were: a diode-pumped Tm:YAP microchip laser, diode pumped, and GaAs diode generating 1.9 μm, 1.44 μm, and 0.808 μm, respectively. The measurement of transmission and absorption of the basic element - bracket, adhesive resin, and enamel - was also made with the goal to explain the source of heat and bracket debonding.
