Taking into account that dental caries is still the most prevalent disease of oral cavity in the modern time we meet hard dental tissues erosions very frequently. Tooth erosions are characterized as irreversible progressive loss of hard dental tissues on the tooth surface caused by acids whose source is formed from another substance different from mouth bacteria in contrast to caries. These acids are extrinsic (from food, beverages, some drugs, oral hygiene products and environment) or intrinsic (gastric acid). Another erosive risk factors are little amount and low pH of saliva, insufficient influx of fluoride, calcium and phosphate. The aim of the...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2011; 111(1): 14-20
Caries incipient is characterized by subsurface demineralization of enamel. Optimal fluoridation with adequate oral hygiene and correction of diet can stop caries's progress or even lead to remineralization of lesion. Tendency of modern dentistry is prevalence of prevention over invasive methods of therapy. This is possible only under well-timed diagnostics of caries incipient. However the most of traditional diagnostic methods (visual tactile method and bite-wing radiography) are not able to detect caries in the initial phase. Problem could be decided due to method based on laser fluorescence. This review covers caries's detection by use of DIAGNOdent...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2011; 111(1): 5-9
The aim of study is to evaluate the presence of an extra supernumerary tooth in the central position of the upper or lower jaw which is called mesiodens. The prevalence in the general population of 0.15-1.9 %, the shape is conical and mesiodens is smaller than the central or lateral incisor. Several hypotheses have been suggested for the formation of supernumerary teeth. Early diagnosis and treatment are needed.

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2011; 111(1): 10-16
Cephalometric x-ray image analysis is excellent tool for diagnosis a treatment planning in orthodontics, prosthodontics and maxillofacial surgery. Segner-Hasund harmony box describes facial skeleton in complex and evaluates single cephalometric measurements from the point of view of measurements correlation. Three case reports demonstrate using Segner-Hasund harmony box in practice.
