Introduction and aim: Human teeth represent a significant determinant in forensic sciences and they serve as an important source of data about human behavior in retrospective sciences. Correct identification of isolated teeth depends on their alteration influenced by biogenic and diagenetic processes which reduce marks appropriate to correct determination of the tooth. The aim of this study is to quantify the rate of agreement of isolated teeth in relation to teeth preservation. Methods: Assessment of agreement was accomplished according to four different aspects: 1. teeth category; 2. tooth position (upper or lower jaw); 3. teeth...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(1): 3-8 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.025
Background: J. O. Turner was the first, who in year 1906 described the developmental defect of permanent tooth caused by periapical inflammation of temporary predecessor. This disorder is most common in the upper front teeth and premolars, because of their close relationships between roots of deciduous teeth and germs. Today are these changes called developmental defects of enamel (DDE), and they divide into hypoplasia, demarcated and diffuse opacity. The hypoplasia is a defect with a local reduction in the thickness of the enamel. Diffuse and demarcated opacity is characterized by normal thickness of the enamel, there it is only a change in...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(1): 7-14 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.002
Introduction: Review summarizes current knowledge concerning occlusal interferences. Occlusal interference is defined as any tooth contact that inhibits the remaining occluding surfaces from achieving stable and harmonious contacts. Similar meaning have terms deflective occlusal contact and occlusal disturbance. In this review, a current theoretical concept about stable and harmonious contacts in natural dentition is presented. In this concept, occlusal contacts are judged by their relationship to temporomandibular joints, and in static and dynamic occlusion. Objectives: Occlusal interferences can be divided into interferences in...

Central Giant Cell Granuloma - Conservative Treatment with Intralesional Application of Corticosteroids

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(1): 3-6 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.001
Objective: Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is a benign lesion of the jaws although sometimes it can be locally aggressive. CGCG commonly occurs in children and young adults. The traditional treatment of CGCG involves surgery ranging from single enucleation to en bloc resection, which often leads to mutilation of patients. An alternative method is intralesional injection of corticosteroid, which we successfully used in treatment of 15 years old patient with large lesion so the patient didn't have to undergo partial resection of mandible.
Tooth Agenesis and Associated Tooth Developmental Anomalies

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(1): 9-14 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.026
Aim of study: Tooth agenesis means absence or incomplete development of tooth. It is the most common developmental dental anomaly in man. The prevalence of agenesis in permanent dentition (excluding third molars) in common population oscillates between 2.6% and 11.3%. It is frequently associated with other dental developmental anomalies. Reasons of this are complex interactions of gens. The same genetic defect may give rise to different phenotypes, including tooth agenesis, microdontia, peg-shaped lateral incisor, palatally displaced canines, taurodontism and delayed formation and eruption of other teeth. This paper aims to investigate the epidemiology...
