Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2015; 115(1): 3-9 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2015.018

Introduction and aim: It is a generally known fact, that in most of the English books of prosthetic dentistry, the knowledge of gnathology and its accessories including the registration of central relation are essential for the making of high quality removable complete dentures. The question remains, how sophisticated must these accessories be? It seems so far, that the mechanical face bow and semiadjustable articulator are enough for making the removable complete dentures, and the digital face bow with the individually programmed articulator make the work better and more precise. Material and methods: 115 complete dentures were made,...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2015; 115(1): 13-17 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2015.003

Introduction: The aim of this retrospective study is to compare the success rate of implants in the edentulous lower jaw in elderly and younger patients. Method: 248 patients with l240 implants were evaluated (every patient had five implants). 44 patients were minimally 70 years old (senior group), 204 patients were younger (control group). Results: The statistical analysis reveals that the success rate of implants was comparable in the both groups. Conclusion: Consequently, we can assume that the long-term success rate of the implants in elderly patients will not be lower.

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2015; 115(1): 4-12 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2015.002

Background: Tooth agenesis represents the most common anomaly of dental development, which according to Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM) database, affects approximately 20% of the population. Although the anomaly is so common, the ethiology is still undisclosed. In most cases the agenesis is caused by genetic disorder, only a few develop due to external factors. Some of the external factors are rubeolla, syphilis, vitamin D deficiency or nutritional damage during pregnancy and early childhood. Other harmful factors are radiation therapy in orofacial area in early stages of the development of the patient, harms the mother caused by...

Tilted Implants

A. Šimůnek, D. Kopecká, L. Čapek

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2015; 115(1): 18-24 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2015.004

Introduction and aim: The authors discuss tilted dental implants. They define the tilted and the vertical implants, and they draw attention to biomechanical advantages, which the tilted implants bring. The first presumption of the effectivity of tilted implants is their high resistance to extra-axial occlusal loading. However, former papers based on photoelastic models, finite element analyses or clinical studies have proved this surprisingly high resistance. Results: Four indication groups are defined and they are illustrated by implantological cases. The most important indication of the tilted implants is the edentulous jaw in...
