Alternative Preparation Techniques in the Treatment of Dental Caries
L. Roubalíková
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 63-69
The author gives the preview of various preparation techniques except of the rotary preparation. Preparation techniques include mechanical, chemomechanical, kinetic and hydrokinetic preparation. The mechanical preparation techniques involve A.R.T.. rotary, sonic and ultrasonic preparation. The advantages and disadvantages of these techniques are discussed and documented by clinical and experimental results of the author.
Analysis of Dental Caries in 5-year Children
Z. Veselinyová, N. Markovská
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 70-75
WHO requires data from member states about the most common oral health problems - dental caries and periodontal diseases. Data are choosen from epidemiological studies in several age groups. Each age group has its own criteria, the first were established by the year 2000, later changed apply to the years 2010 and 2020. Slovak republic is also sending data to WHO, but only a few and not in the age group of 5-6 year old children. For that we performed a study in Košice and surrounding villages. We focused on dmft index and separately on its components d,m,f. % of caries - free children and plaque on the teeth surfaces. The dmft index for the whole group...
Clinical Evaluation of Facet Materials in Fixed Prosthodontics (Part 2)
A. Boldaji, E. Cimbura
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 76-80
The aim and purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term stability of facet crowns, the changes of facet surface, marginal adaptation, cracks or breakage of material, change of shape and colour as well as gingival status and finally the search for the ideal facet restorative material.
Clinical Evaluation of Problems Originated after Cementing Fixed Partial Dentures
A. Boldaji, E. Cimbura
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 81-83
The clinical procedures involved in fixed partial dentures, can produce variety of responses from the dental pulp, periodontal tissue, and associated anatomic structures. In this article, some of the major problems that may occur after cemention of fixed partial dentures are outlined as follows: thermal sensitivity, discomfort during function, gingival inflammation, retention of food, sensitivity to sweet compounds, tooth mobility, non specific complaints.
Therapy of Recurrent Aphthous Ulcer by Removing of Electro-active Amalgam Fillings from the Oral Cavity
J. Procházková, Š. Podzimek, M. Tomka, J. Bártová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 103-110
The aim of our study was to prove whether the galvanic cell in the mouth is able to influence the disease course in the recurrent aphthous ulcer (RAU).For this purpose on the basis of informed consent and in agreement with the Helsinki Declaration the group of thirty-six patients with RAU and amalgam as the only dental material used in the mouth was clinically examined. The galvanic currents were measured as well. In twelve patients the pathological values of galvanic currents were found and the electro-active amalgam fillings were removed. We followed the clinical course of the disease: the frequency of recurrences, number and size of aphthous...
Resonance Frequency Analysis of Dental Implants Placed Into the Sinus Lifts: at Stage1 and Stage 2 Surgery
R. V. Somanathan, A. Šimůnek, J. Bukač, T. Brázda, D. Kopecká
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 111-114
Measurement of primary stability of dental implants using resonance frequency analysis is found to be a reliable and evidence based method. It is believed that a higher value indicates a better stability and so a better prognosis for the implant. This kind of relation can also be expected from implants inserted in sinus lifts. This study proves that the values with a lower amplitude by time reach a higher value and those with higher initial resonance frequency value tend to decrease to somewhat lower values. That is, the secondary stability of the implant does not depend completely on primary stability value.
Adjustment of Physiognomy in Children with Down Syndrome
K. Nováková, B. Polášková, E. Fritschová, K. Langová
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2006; 106(4): 115-122
The aim of the work was to evaluate the possibility to adjust physiognomy of children with Down syndrome and to create our own modification of the Castillo-Morales method. The cohort included 25 children at the age of 0.5 to 8.22 years and the mean age of 2.79 year. The position of tongue was evaluated in 5 variations, the time of opened mounth for the period of 2 minutes and the lip occlusion in 4 variants in the entry examination and at the end of treatment of dispensary. The therapy was started by a logopedist with individually aimed logopedic exercise, originating in the principles of developmental therapy of neuromotoric skills and digital stimulation...
