- Institut pro další vzdělávání pracovníků ve zdravotnictví, Stomatologické centrum
An author presents contemporary possibilities in diagnosing of caries in her article. Besides conventional methods such as visual inspection with probing whereby we can detect later stages of dental caries, she describes possibilities of preventive bite-wing radiographs which are often omitted in our country. Further, she puts her mind to more recent methods which use for diagnosing of caries up-to-date devices, some of them are able to quantify caries extent definitely. Such as fiber-optic transillumination - FOTI, endoscopic methods, electrical conductivity measurement by Electronic Caries Monitor, and measurement of optical changes of caries lesion by laser fluorescence detector Diagnodent. Author describes her own experiences with the last mentioned device.
