In 12-yr-olds and 15-yr-olds the DMFT amounted to 3.38 and 4.95...

Etiology of Non-cariogenic Cervical Lesions (Epidemiological Survey)
M. Starosta
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(2): 45-56

From a retrospective epidemiological survey in which participated 50 subjects, mean age 44 years, ensues that important etiological factors include: excessive intake of exogenous acids poor technique of tooth brushing and overburdening of teeth as a result of parafunctions or inadequate state of static and/or dynamic occlusion. The incidence of lesionsincreases with the patient's age and is maximal during the fourth and fifth decade. Mostfrequently the first premolars are affected and combined lesions predominate. Based on the epidemiological survey the...

It may be statedthat arthroscopy is a satisfactory diagnostic and therapeutic approach in the treatment of internal disorders of the temporomandibular...
Antioxidant Activity of Total Saliva and Dental Cariosity
J. Podhradský
Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 1999; 99(2): 59-64
In total stimulated saliva collected from donors with different cariosity, definedby the cariosity index, the authors assessed, based on the ability of the saliva to inhibit lipidperoxidation, the antioxidant activity. The value in saliva of donors with a low cariosity did notdiffer from that saliva of donors with greater cariosity. Between the compared groups with different cariosity no difference was found in the amount of salivary uric acid which isconsidered an important antioxidant of the oral cavity.

The difficulties associated in particular with assessment of the diagnosis of carcinoma in IP wherein five of seven cases overestimation of the finding occurred. The finding of cellular irregularities and a higher number of mitoses did not correlate with the incidence of relapses. The mostimportant prognostic factor was radicality of treatment. Lateral rhinotomy with medianmaxillectomy is considered the method of choice in the majority of IP of the lateral wall. The authors' own modification...

Further, she puts her mind to more recent methods which use for diagnosing of caries up-to-date devices, some of them are able to quantify caries extent definitely. Such as fiber-optic transillumination - FOTI, endoscopic methods, electrical conductivity measurement by Electronic Caries Monitor, and measurement of optical changes of caries lesion...
