The aim of study was to evaluate osseointegration of KrF laser hydroxylapatitecoated titanium alloy Ti6Al14V implants. For deposition a KrF excimer laser in a stainless-steel deposition chamber was used. The thickness of HA films was about 1 mm. Minipigs were usedin this investigation. The implants were placed vertically into the lower jaw. Quality of osseointegration was evaluated histologically by transmitted and fluorescent light. In the control group (titanium implant without cover) fibrous connective tissue was seen between the implant and newly formed bone, in laser-deposited coat a layer of fibrous connective tissue was seen only rarely, thus the osseointegration of samples is better. The level of osseointegration of the host bone was investigated. The percentage of bone/implant contact was determined. The total osseointegration of both types of implants was similar, bone growth on implants was upto 70 %.
