Extraoral Instruments on the Principle of Delair's Mask. Part II: Indications, Biomechanics, Therapeutic Procedures
- II. stomatologická klinika UK, 1. LF, Praha
In the submitted paper the authors mention the indications, therapeutic procedures and practical findings concerning repair of dentoalveolar and skeletal malocclusions bymeans of a facial mask. The work is based on the authors theoretical study published in the journal Česká stomatologie (Czech Stomatology) in 1998. The transfer of orthopaedic force by dorsoventral traction to the maxillary complex stimulates the growth potential of the maxilla and influences its growth in a sagittal and vertical direction. Clinical findings and experimentalstudies confirm the stability of therapeutic changes in particular during the period of growth and development of the nasomaxillary complex. Favourable results were recorded also in the repair of dental discrepancies.
