- Stomatologická klinika LF MU a FN U Sv. Anny, Brno, přednosta prof. MUDr. J. Vaněk, CSc.
There are emerging new problems associated with medication side effects with development of therapeutic modalities of current medical approaches. Some of these, such as Cyclosporin A (CsA), anticlonvulsants and calcium channel blockers are associated with gingival hyperplasia. We know the pharmacological mechanisms, clinical and histopathologic features, but the question about ethiopathogenesis remains still open. The mechanism of the gingival hyperplasia development is complicated and includes action of many cofactors, such as plaque, genetic predisposition, age and hormones.
