The laboratory evaluation of quality of peripheral occlusion of bonded amalgam filling and its comparison with classical amalgam filling seven, eight and nine years since it was made follows up the previous laboratory and clinical evaluation of bonded and classic alamalgam fillings. The results of evaluation after two, four, five and six years since these fillings were made have already been published. In the beginning of this study (in 1994) the authors made 137 fillings altogether, 75 of them bonded and 62 control classical amalgam fillings of Ist and IInd class according to Black in the lateral segment of dentition in 21 patients. In an annual control examination, impressions of the study fillings were made and the replicas were used for the evaluation of quality of the peripheral occlusion of the fillings by the method of comparing with a series of standard models (Vivasacale) as well as the method of the index of marginal fractures (IMF). The results of a series of in vitro studies of various authors, who also evaluated the properties of bonded and classical amalgam filling, favor the bonded fillings. Statistical analyses of our results also proved slightly better results of the bonded fillings on both methods used. The determined differences were not significant, though.
