Titanium Disc Modified by Hydroxyapatite and Zirconium - Evaluation of Surface in Vitro

The study investigated the quality of surface of titanium implant model, covered by laser-deposed layer of hydroxyapatite with a zirconium inter-layer. The surface was evaluated in vitro, human line fibroblasts therefore colonized the surface and multiplied there without displaying morphological changes. The study evaluates the new material as a suitable one for implantation with possibilities of immediate production of prosthetic substitution.

The color perception of the human eye is highly subjective. In clinical conditions, the color selection is usually performed by subjective comparison of teeth with shade standards made from various materials. The objective discernment of color is very important for materialas well as for clinical research in dentistry. The principle of this technique is described, indications and contraindications are listed and conditions required for this type of treatment are mentioned. The laboratory evaluation of quality of peripheral occlusion of bonded amalgam filling and its comparison with classical amalgam filling seven, eight and nine years since it was made follows up the previous laboratory and clinical evaluation of bonded and classic alamalgam fillings. Osteoradionecrosis - Complication of the Complex Therapy of Orofacial Area

In a cohort of 144 patients treated for oral carcinomas in the years of 1997-2003 at the Clinic of Oral, Jaw and Facial Surgery, Medical Faculty, Palacky University and Faculty Hospital in Olomouc, the authors recorded 15 cases of osteoradionecroses (11%). The radiotherapy of these patients employed Co 60 at the dose of 54-77 Gy (eight patients) and X-ray radiation at a total dose of 56-73 Gy (seven patients). Calcifying Odontogenic Cysts

Two cases of calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) are presented. COC representa group of benign odontogenic tumours with good prognosis, but there is a possible recurrence. The first clinical case of an 8-year-old male patient reports an accidental detection of the tumor located in the right mandibular angle. Clinical findings, x-ray examination, surgery and postoperative reparation are documented. The second case described is a 16-year old female with chronic symptoms of left maxillarysinus inflammation, where a COC associated with odontoma was found. In some cases of COC coincidence with other types of odontogenic tumors is known.

Oral Health Status and Dental Care of Patients with Cardiologic Risk of Focal Infection of Odontogenic Origin

The group of 324 patients (172 men, 152 women) with the cardiologic risk of focalinfection has been examined and when necessary treated. The mean age of men and womenamounted to 65.3 and 65.8, respectively.
