The Consequence of Disorders of Deciduous Teeth on Permanent Dentition

P. Černochová, K. Kaňovská, J. Kuklová

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 75-80

Two cases of orthodontically treated children in whom the extractions of permanent teeth were done are described. The indications for extractions were the malformations of permanent teeth. A Turner's tooth in the mandible was present in the first case, and a permanent tooth in the maxilla with a dilacerated crown and reduplicated root in the second one. The extractions in both cases were followed by orthodontic after-treatment. The impact of mentioned disorders on the permanent dentition and the possibilities of their combined management are discussed.

Retention of an Incisor as the Consequence of an Injury of a Deciduous Tooth

P. Krejčí

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 81-87

The author examined a group of 20 children who attended his departmentbecause of retention of an upper incisor caused by an injury of a primary tooth. In the investigated group the most frequent type of injury of the deciduous tooth was intrusion. The mean age at the time of injury was 2.8 years, girls were affected more frequently. The mostfrequent type of malformation which led to retention of the tooth was dilaceration of the dental crown. The teeth most frequently affected were the permanent upper central incisors.

Adhesion of Leucit-Enforced Glass Ceramics

Z. Mach, K. Hroníková, D. Houšová, J. Regent, L. Mrklas

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 81-88

The formation of overlap technique of prefabricated leucite reinforced glass-ceramic inlays carried new positives, but also problem with extension of bonded surfaces between luting material and inlays. Shear bond strength of this adhesive bond up to 12 months and after thermo-cycling, and microleakage after 24 hours were tested. Two micro-filled compositeluting cements (Panavia 21, All-Bond C&B) were used.

Trends of Stomatological Care of Diabetic Child Patients

J. Dušková, K. Nováková, Z. Broukal

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 88-91

The objective of the investigation was to compare the state of dentition in child patients with diabetes type 1 in the course of the nineties. On comparison of the DMF, DI, GI and CI indexes in 1988, 1995, 1997 and 1999 a significant increase of the number of teeth with untreated caries was found but an improved standard of oral hygiene.

Dental Treatment of Patients with Transplanted Organs with Regard to the Problem of Antibiotic Prophylaxis

S. F. Smola, J. Zemen, R. Houba

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 89-95

The authors discuss the problem of dental treatment of subjects after organ transplantation, in particular from the aspect of self-handed dentists. Consistent with the view of the German professional society for dental, oral and maxillary medicine (DGZMK) and other professional sources, they recommend for antibiotic prophylaxis of the "single shot" type primarily a combination of amoxicillin and metranidazol. They advise to base the selection of optimal continuous adjuvant antibiosis for prophylaxis in planned treatment during consecutive sessions on results of a molecular-biological tests (e.g. micro-Dent). The authors mention the principle of the...

Unusual Reaction of the Periodontium

M. Starosta, M. Špidlen

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 92-96

A periodontological orthodontic therapeutic procedure was recorded in a female patient with the diagnosis of rapidly progressing periodontitis. In the course of periodontological treatment absorption of the root of tooth 21 occurred. After straightening of the tooth by orthodontic treatment the periodontium regenerated.

Contribution to the Prophylaxis of Infectious Endocarditis during Dental Treatment

J. Zemen, R. Houba, S. F. Smola

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 96-101

In patients with a high or medium risk of infectious endocarditis it is important to respect the colonization of the oral cavity by a varied bacterial flora and the ensuing risk of bacteraemia. During every dental treatment of such patients mechanical cleaning and localdisinfection of the mouth is essential (e.g. with a 0.12% chlorohexidine solution). Before an invasive dental procedure antibiotic prophylaxis must be administered. With regard to the mixed aerobic-anaerobic microbial flora in the oral cavity we should always assume the possible presence of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcommitans (in particular in concurrent periodontitis) and anaerobic...

Effect of Preventan on ScIgA Levels in Saliva

J. Bártová, Z. Krátká, K. Benetková, O. Krejsa, V. Bažata

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 102-106

The objective of the investigation was to study the effect of the preparation Juwimwhich contains a mixture of nucleotides, amino acids and oligopeptides on levels of secretoryIgA in saliva of young subjects. Juwim is part of the dietary supplement Preventan. Levels of secretory IgA were investigated in saliva before administration of 1 tablet of Preventan per day for a period of 30 days and after their administration. The effect of Juwim in Preventan was compared with a preparation of similar composition as Preventan but without Juwim. For detection of secretory IgA the authors used the commercial set Binding Site ScIgA. They foundt hat after administration...

The Experiences with an Open Treatment of Mandibular Condylar Fractures in the Selected Group of Patients

P. Schütz, S. Šafář

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2001; 101(3): 103-111

The authors performed open reduction and internal fixation of 14 mandibular condylar fractures in 13 patients during years 1997-1999. The patients were 12 males and 1 female aged between 17 and 51. Three patients were operated for solitary unilateral condylar fracture. Concomitant mandibular body fractures were treated by Titanium miniplate osteo-synthesis in all remaining patients. In 12 fractures (11 patients) 4-holes Titanium miniplate was used for fixation of fractured condyle. Submandibular approach was performed in 2 fractures, intraoral approach in 3 fractures, combined submandibular and intraoral approachin 1 fracture, retromandibular approach...
