Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(3): 35-42 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.028
Aim of the study: Third molars have a special position in dentition. The reasons of this are extreme deviations in the developmental process, together with frequent agenesis of third molar. Their absence is considered normal very often. This paper aims to investigate the epidemiology of agenesis of third molars in children in the Olomouc Region, to compare its frequency in boys and girls, to determine the prevalence of agenesis of third molars of different localization, to compare its frequency in upper and lower jaw and in right and left side and to make comparisons with Rozkovcová et al. study. Material and methods: The study was...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(3): 43-48 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.029
Introduction and aim of study: Preclinical practical exercises are an important part of teaching dentistry. It takes place on the phantom simulators, jaws and teeth in the adapted phantom labs. The aim of this experimental study was to assess the contribution of two-layer phantom teeth with carious lesions for teaching preclinical dentistry compared to mono-layer teeth without carious lesions. Material and methods: The study consisted of two parts - the questionnaire and a practical part. Questionnaires were surveyed students' opinions on various properties of mono-layer teeth without carious lesions (KaVo) with a two-layers tooth...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(3): 67-71 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.012
Introduction: The comparison of tissue quality and its restoration after contact, and non-contact Er: YAG (2940 nm) laser radiation ablation was evaluated. Methods: Laser setting for contact ablation was 250 mJ/pulse, pulse repetition rate 15 Hz, average power 3.75 W. For non-contact ablation these values were: 600 mJ/pulse, 6 Hz, 3.6 W. Structure of enamel and dentin after laser ablation was analyzed in scanning electron microscope. All cavities were filled by sonic-activated composite resin. Chemical and mechanical bond was observed in scanning electron microscope.Microleakage was assessed quantitatively by the degree of methylene...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(3): 53-59 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.010
Background: Dental alloys are widely used in applications where they come for a long time into contact with oral epithelium, connective tissue or alveolar bone. Hence their biocompatibility is one of the critical requirements for use in clinical dentistry. This review of literature is intended as an overview of the risk exposure of the human body to metals from dental alloys and the possibility of examining the model conditions in vitro and in vivo before placing them on the market and put into use. Dental alloys are metallurgically complex ones and with regard to their composition. They are divided into gold, silver and palladium based alloys...

Čes. stomatol. Prakt. zub. lék. (Czech Dental Journal) 2014; 114(3): 60-66 | DOI: 10.51479/cspzl.2014.011
Introduction and the aim: The work deals with the use of factory-prepared equimolar mixture nitrous oxide/oxygen (50 % N2O / 50 % O2) in the dental treatment of children. First of all the history and utilization of the nitrous oxide in the medicine is mentioned. The authors describe the physical properties and pharmacokinetics of nitrous oxide, which is the main part of the mixture. Further the work deals with indications and contraindications of the treatment using 50 % N2O / 50 % O2 with respect to the age of the child and to the extent and nature of the carried out procedure. The equipment, technology...
