Eruption of Incisors after Removal of a Supernumerary Tooth

In a group of 25 children, mean age 9.2 years, sex ratio boys /girls 3:1 the authorssought the ratio of different supernumerary teeth participating in the retention of centralincisors and investigated the relation between the developmental stage of the root of centralincisors at the time of appearance and their subsequent growth activity. Success of Initial Stage of Treatment of Inflammatory Affections of the Periodontium under Conditions of Common Dental Care

Study evaluated the efficiency of initial therapy in the group of 80 patients. Periodontal tissues status during the treatment was evaluated by these indices - PBI, CPITN, depth of periodontal pockets was measured in the subgroup of patients. Authors reported that patient's interest in treatment increased when the disease is more severe. They also proved high efficiency of the initial therapy and feasibility of this treatment for private dentists.
Oral Hygiene and the Organization of a Preventive Programme in Children with Hearing Disorders

Children with impaired hearing are entitled to more time in the dental surgery than healthy children. The objective of the work was to provide complete preventive care regardless of the child's affection. The authors investigated children in the Institute for children with hearing disorders. The group was divided into two subgroups S1 (born in 1990-1995) and those born in 1985-1989) and a control group of healthy subjects divided similarly. In both groups the caries rate was evaluated by the DMF index and the index of oral hygiene by the P1I index. Relationship between Affection of the Periodontium and Diabetes - Meta-analysis of Results of Cross-sectional and Intervention Studies

The paper summarizes the results of 72 clinical studies describing the relationship of periodontal disease and diabetes mellitus and the importance of successful periodontological therapy for metabolic control of diabetes. If diabetes was considered as a single disease and a wide age bracket of patients was evaluated no relationship with periodontal disease was proved. Investigations which evaluated separately type 1 and type 2 in the middle aged population relationship with periodontal disease was detected.
